Family Life Education

Breast-feeding for Expectant Parents
This class can help make breast-feeding a positive and successful experience for mother and child. Both parents and support persons are encouraged to attend.

Childbirth Preparation
This four-week course helps prepare you for the birth of your child.

Modern Grandparents
This class covers a range of topics including changes over the years in bathing, teething, colic, cord care, feeding, and child safety.

First Aid and CPR

Family and Friends CPR
This course covers the basics of CPR and relief of foreign body airway obstruction for adults, infants and children. This course DOES NOT result in certification. Please enroll in Adult CPR if a certification is required by your place of employment.

Standard First Aid, CPR and AED
This course covers breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, infants and children; identifying and caring for bleeding and sudden illnesses and injuries; and preventing disease transmission. It also introduces AEDs, automated external defibrillators.

Learn about the causes of knee and hip pain and the latest treatments, including information on medications, nutrition and exercise.

American Red Cross Babysitter's Training
This program is for students ages 11–15 and provides information and skills necessary to ensure safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents or guardians. It will help participants develop skills in leadership, safety and safe play, basic care, first aid and professionalism. Please bring a sack lunch; drinks provided.

Home Alone
This program gives children ages 8–11 the information and skills necessary for taking care of themselves when they're home alone. Topics include what to do in case of emergency; how to handle boredom, fear and loneliness; and how to establish a support system.

Teens Under Fire (TUF)
TUF is a prevention/intervention program that takes a tough look at youth drug abuse, violence and crime by exposing teens, ages 12–18, to the harsh consequences involved when high-risk decisions are made. Please call Mary Alice Baxter at 641-2421 or your child's school guidance counselor for more information or to refer a youth to TUF.

Cancer Support Group
People living with cancer and their immediate families are invited to join the new support group at ARMC. It addresses emotional, educational and/or spiritual concerns of coping with cancer. Meet other survivors to share concerns and ideas. Lunch is available for purchase.

CSRA Dream Catchers -- Traumatic Brain Injury and Disability Support Group

Look Good...Feel Better
This free, national public service program is designed to help women cancer patients learn how to cope with the appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. It teaches techniques to help restore their appearance and self-esteem through the use of makeup, wigs, scarves and accessories. The class is open to women actively undergoing cancer treatment or about to start treatment.

Pink Ribbonettes

55 Alive
This is AARP's mature driver education course, helping older drivers improve skills and avoid traffic crashes and violations. This two-day "refresher" class helps mature drivers to brush up on their driving-related knowledge and increase their awareness of defensive-driving techniques. In addition, South Carolina residents 55 or older who complete the course receive a discounted rate on their automobile insurance.
